Fitness & Product Reviews: A Fitness Professional Reveals All

Working in the fitness industry, I’ve come across fitness equipment, products and supplements that stand up to their promises.

I’ve tried dozens of proteins, electrolytes etc., and know which ones work for me as well as my clients.

Let me take some of the guessing work out of this for you and share with you my list of preferred products, items and supplements: all health and fitness related.

As a bonus, I’ve reviewed and recommended some recent books on health, fitness, and mostly mindset and the power of thought.

If you’re looking for book recommendations, here’s your blog!

Full disclosure: I am not paid by any of these companies.

For The Body: Exercise Equipment and Products

TRX

Portable, reliable, must have.

Kettlebells and dumbbells

Typically speaking, almost all brands are fine to use, find one that fits your budget and start building your arsenal. When starting out, you want light, medium, and heavy weight options.

Resistance Bands

You can get one heck of a workout in with nothing but KB’s and resistance bands. Grab a pack of bands off Amazon and use them for banded glute walks, bridges or squat jumps, you can stand on the band and do bicep curls, tricep extension, affix it to a door and do lat and scap work: the sky is the limit with these!

Mad Hippie Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Face Cream, and Antioxidant oil

I heard about these products from the lovely Neghar Fonooni. I’ve always loved oils and products that are beneficial to my skin, reversing sun damage, and helping my skin look healthier.

Since I started using these products, my skin looks 100 times better. It’s healthier and more glowy, looks hydrated and even and balanced tones. My finer lines and wrinkles have filled in! I can’t say enough about their products. They’re incredible and I highly recommend them.

Protein

Designer Whey

This is the only protein that my stomach likes. I get chocolate or gourmet chocolate and can easily take it with water. I also like that it is 90 calories, 20 grams of protein per serving, with no sugar. It’s palatable with just water.

Electrolytes

I found Vega electrolyte blend one hungover morning when I was at whole foods looking for aspirin. Needless to say, they don’t have any but what they did have, were these electrolytes. I’ve since used them for similar occasions as well as a daily supplement to rehydrate during my workouts. Many of my clients now take them as well.

For the Brain: Books

The Power Of Full Engagement

If you want to learn effective ways to harness your energy and creativity while equally channeling rest and renewal periods in your days, this is the book. This book single handedly has impacted my current work schedule to help me be more productive and creative while still allowing for plenty of what the book calls ‘intermittent energy renewal periods”. If you want to learn how to be a better, high performing athlete, leader, parent, or person, this is a must read.

What I Know For Sure by Oprah Winfrey

A light read with short, digestible chapters, this book acts as a summary of Oprah’s AH-HA moments. With insights on life, love, showing up and living fully, this book is the perfect bedside companion. Oh a side note, it’s Oprah that I learned about and started my own gratitude journal and she writes about it here in this book.

Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari

Backed with loads of research conducted via focus groups around the world, Aziz dives into the modern world of romance and dating. Perfect for anyone newly single or in a relationship, Aziz does the leg work on what works and what doesn’t work in the modern world of dating. Plus, I think Aziz is hilarious and thoroughly enjoy reading his work.

Daring Greatly by Brene Brown

The critic does not count, instead, it is the man marred with dirt and sweat, who is in the arena, that matters. I’m muddling the speech that Roosevelt gave that served as the foundation upon which Brown conducts her research on shame and vulnerability. Who wants to read a book on that, you ask? Anyone and everyone who wants to learn how to better show up in our lives, careers and relationships.

Really, everything on this list is a great book for pleasure, development, and wonderful insights!
